The Jetsons premiered in the tumult of 1962, in the midst of the Cuban Missile Crisis, a multitude of nuclear tests and the Space Race. This timeline tracks the evolution of the series and gives examples of concurrent events in history and pop culture.

  • February 9 - Jamaica signs agreement to become independent
  • February 12 - Bus boycott starts in Macon, Georgia

  • October 26 - Nikita Khrushchev sends note to JFK offering to withdraw his missiles from Cuba if US closed its bases in Turkey offer is rejected
  • October 28 - Khrushchev orders withdrawal of missiles from Cuba, ending crisis
  • October 28 - "The Good Little Scouts" premieres
